14 Worst Disney Movies of All Time

worst-disney-movies-image
Rotten Tomatoes Classic Trailers/YouTube

1. Pocahontas (1995)

The animated historical film Pocahontas is one of Disney’s most polarizing movies. The 33rd Disney animated film tells a romanticized version of the real-life Pocahontas meeting European settler John Smith in 1607. The film is loosely based on their first meeting and Pocahontas saving Smith’s life. The movie received mixed reviews, with some critics praising the animation and soundtrack while others criticized the lack of tone, weak story, and historical inaccuracies.

Historians note Smith was not a handsome and charming man but harsh and rough. There’s also no proof of Pocahontas saving Smith’s life or falling in love with him. Regardless, the movie did well at the box office and received several Oscar nominations for the score and soundtrack. Furthermore, Pocahontas influenced future movies Mulan and Frozen. Disney fans still consider it one of the worst movies the studio produced.

2. The Black Cauldron (1985)

Disney’s 25th animated feature film, The Black Cauldron, has the dubious nickname “The movie that almost killed Disney.” Based on Lloyd Alexander’s The Chronicles of Prydain, The Black Cauldron follows Taran, Princess Elionwy, Fflewddur Fflam, and Gurgi as they attempt to stop the Horned King from obtaining the magical cauldron. The film did poorly with audiences criticizing the dark tone and disjointed plot.

This led to the movie being a box office bomb, making roughly $20 million on a $44 million budget. The movie was a significant disappointment and bombed so badly that it almost ended Disney’s animation department. Luckily, the studio began to bounce back with The Great Mouse Detective, which was released the following year and led to the Disney Renaissance. The Black Cauldron is now considered a cult classic animated film amongst hardcore Disney fans.

3. Peter Pan II: Return To Neverland (2002)

Peter Pan II: Return to Neverland is a sequel to the 14th Disney animated film Peter Pan. The movie didn’t fare as well as the original 1956 film, which had a short run in theatres but did much better than expected.

The uninspired sequel reused the original film’s plot, except it’s Wendy’s daughter, Jane, who ends up in Neverland meeting Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, and the Lost Boys. Fans and critics criticized the screenplay, lackluster songs, and disappointing plot.

4. Planes (2013)

After the enormous success of Cars, Disney Studios got to work on a spinoff, Planes. The plot follows a crop duster plane afraid of heights, Dusty Crophopper, who dreams of competing in a Wings Around The Globe race. It features an all-star cast consisting of Dane Cook, Teri Hatcher, Priyanka Chopra, John Cleese, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Val Kilmer, and Sinbad.

Sadly the star power wasn’t enough to compensate for the weak plot and humor. While it did have overwhelmingly negative reviews, critics praised the animation, with a sequel, Planes: Fire & Rescue, hitting theatres in 2014.

5. Brother Bear (2003)

The animated film Brother Bear is Disney’s 44th feature film. A young boy from Alaska, Kenai, hunts and kills a bear. The killing angers the Spirits, who turn him into a bear as punishment. Kenai must now travel to a mountain where the Northern lights touch the earth to turn back into a human.

Critics consider the plot generic and the animation lackluster. Despite receiving mixed reviews, Brother Bear did earn an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature, losing to Finding Nemo.

6. Strange World (2022)

The 61st Disney animated film, Strange World, stars an ensemble cast of Jake Gyllenhall, Dennis Quaid, Gabrielle Union, Jaboukie Young-White, and Lucy Liu. The plot revolves around family explorers, The Clades, who travel to the mysterious land of Avalonia where they encounter bizarre creatures and find themselves in all sorts of drama.

The movie is significant for featuring the first openly LGBTQ lead character. Despite the stellar cast and visuals, Strange Worlds was a box office bomb and one of Disney’s worst-performing films. Critics praised the cast but criticized the screenplay. It lost roughly $197 million due to its poor performance, although it became the number-one movie on Disney+ when it appeared on the streaming platform.

7. Jungle Book 2 (2003)

In 1967, Disney released the 19th animated film, The Jungle Book, to universal praise and positive reviews. They followed with a sequel in 2003, The Jungle Book 2, that failed to live up to expectations.

The sequel got a short theatrical release before going straight to video. While it did well at the box office, critics consider The Jungle Book 2 one of the worst movies of all time. It has a similar plot as the first film, with poor animation and visuals. It remains one of Disney’s worst movies to hit theatres in recent years.

8. Chicken Little (2005)

Ace “Chicken Little” Cluck becomes the laughingstock of Oakey Oakes when he claims the sky is falling. A year later, Chicken Little is determined to clear his name when he discovers a mysterious UFO ship with his friends.

Like many Disney films, Chicken Little did well at the box office, but critics and fans gave harsh reviews. The movie relied on special effects and made the film aesthetically pleasing. Nonetheless, the film lacked character development and plot structure, relying too heavily on cliches.

9. Robin Hood (1973)

Disney’s Robin Hood adapted the classic tale of folk hero Robin Hood into an animated film using anthropomorphic animals. Robin Hood, Little John, and his band of merry men battles Prince John over his recent taxation of Nottingham.

At the time of its release, Robin Hood did well at the box office, recouping its budget. Despite this, the film bombed with critics and remains one of Disney’s worst movies. Robin Hood is notable for reusing the same scenes more than once. Critics considered it a cute film but one of the studio’s weakest flicks.

10. Planes: Fire & Rescue (2014)

Despite Planes performing poorly, Disney Studios got hard at work on a sequel, Planes: Fire & Rescue. The voice cast returned with new members Julie Bowen, Ed Harris, and Regina King. After the first film’s events, Dusty Crophopper becomes a wildland firefighting plane.

While the sequel is an improvement on the first film, it still did poorly at the box office and with critics, who felt the generic plot and flat characters were the movie’s biggest flaws. Many critics felt it wasn’t on par with previous Disney films.

11. Home on the Range (2004)

Disney’s 45th film, Home on the Range, follows three cows on a mission to capture the notorious cattle rustler Alameda Slim in the Old West. While the studio had high hopes for the film, it failed at the box office and with critics. Audiences considered the plot dull and uninspired. Despite the cast (ices of Roseanne Barr, Judi Dench, Jennifer Tilly, Cuba Gooding Jr., Randy Quaid, and Steve Buscemi) and promotion, Home on the Range is one of Disney’s worst films.

Watch on Disney+

12. Treasure Planet (2002)

In the early 2000s, Disney released a string of poorly received animated films. The 2002 film Treasure Planet retells the plot of the classic novel Treasure Island. It follows the adventures of Jim Hawkins through space and is notable for being the most expensive animated movie ever made on a budget of $140 million.

Critics and fans gave the film positive reviews, praising the cast and story. Unfortunately, the film was a major box office bomb, making roughly $38 million. It didn’t even come close to breaking even. Despite being one of the most expensive failures in history, Treasure Planet has gained a significant cult following over the years since its release.

Watch on Disney+

13. Oliver & Company (1988)

The 27th Disney animated film, Oliver & Company, follows a homeless kitten, Oliver, who joins a street gang of dogs. The film is an adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens novel Oliver. Instead of being set in 19th-century London, the film occurs in 1980s New York. The characters are also changed from humans to cats and dogs.

Although it did well at the box office, battling with the animated film Land Before Time, critics felt the film didn’t match up with previous Disney classics. Many felt the plot was predictable and uninspired. It has now become a beloved cult classic.

Watch on Disney+

14. Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)

Work on Disney’s 41st animated feature film, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, began shortly after the release of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. In 1914, a young linguist, Milo Thatch, leads a group of mercenaries to the lost city of Atlantis using a sacred book he discovered. Inspired by the works of Jules Verne, the film features an all-star cast that includes Michael J. Fox, Cree Summer, Leonard Nimoy, and Jim Varney in his final role.

Produced on a $90 to $120 million budget, Atlantis: The Lost Empire only made $84 million in North America. The plot, visuals, and performances received mixed reviews from critics. The movie’s poor showing resulted in Disney canceling the animated television series spinoff Teen Atlantis, a volcanic Magic Kingdom attraction, and an underwater Disneyland attraction. However, like so many Disney movies, it has gained a cult following over the years, leading to the re-evaluation of the film.

23 Trendsetting Men’s Fringe Haircuts https://nextluxury.com/mens-style-and-fashion/mens-fringe-haircuts/ Fri, 02 Jun 2023 17:00:20 +0000 https://nextluxury.com/?p=301565 …]]> Men’s hairstyles are more complex than they seem. The days of guys having two hairstyles are long gone. In fact, many men face the same problems as women. For example, more and more men have no idea what to do with their bangs. Luckily, there is a plethora of men’s fringe haircuts and styles to choose from these days.

Depending on the hair and volume, some guys go with a simple comb over or faux hawk. Others go with the classic quiff or pompadour. There are a lot of trendy styles to choose from for special events and everyday situations. The men’s fringe haircut is a versatile style that suits all men as you will discover below.

23 Trendsetting Men’s Fringe Haircuts

1. The Caesar

men's fringe haircuts
malehairadvice/Reddit

The Cesar is a simple hairstyle perfect for guys whose hairlines are receding. It’s a short hairstyle that’s versatile and easy to style. Brush the bangs forward, adding styling cream for some shine.

2. Angular Fringe

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-2
alehairadvice/Reddit

The angular fringe is a trendy look, with longer hair on top and shorter hair on the sides. It works great with the hair swept to the side or angled and choppy. An angular fringe is a great way to draw attention to a strong jawline or hide a prominent forehead. Use light to medium products for guys with long bangs. Men with shorter hair should use a solid pomade to keep the hair in place.

3. Fringe Undercut With Beard

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-3
transmanlifehacks/Reddit

A fringe undercut is perfect for guys with beards. The undercut draws attention to the beard and hair on top. With the longer hair on top, brush it forward, sweep it to the side, or let it gently hang over the forehead. For a high contrast, use one length on the side and back. For a bold look, try a high bald fade

4. Short Back and Sides With Long Fringe

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-4
malehairadvice/Reddit

Shorts side and long top hairstyles are all the rage nowadays. So try a short haircut on the back and side with a long fringe. That also allows for a variety of styles for all occasions. For a night out, try a messy and textured look or a comb-over for something more professional. Spike the front for special events.

5. Hard-Edge Caesar

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-5
StyleMann/YouTube

A hard-edge Caesar usually has fewer bangs in the front, giving it a bolder look. It’s a hard style to manage and requires frequent cuts and product maintenance. The dapper and contemporary hard-edge Caesar will be worth all the work.

6. Short Fringe

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-6
malehairadvice/Reddit

Guys with shorter hair can still let their bangs shine. Short fringe features an undercut or fade on the sides to contrast with the longer hair on top. The bangs must grow out first to hang over the forehead for the style to work. The clean-cut look is easy to manage, either sweeping the hair to the side or brushing it forward. For special occasions, spike the hair for a different look.

7. Mod Caesar Fringe

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-7
trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-1

The mod Caesar fringe is one of the most popular fringe styles. It works best with wavy, thick hair, allowing for a texture and a looser fringe. To style, use wave spray or conditioner to dampen hair. Next, blow dry with a diffuser or air dry to get the slick style. The mod Caesar fringe requires frequent trips to the barber.

8. Brushed Up Fringe

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-8
malehairadvice/Reddit

Most guys opt for the traditional down fringe. However, the brushed-up fringe is starting to take over. It’s perfect for men with straight and thick hair. The brushed-up fringe adds volume and style. Guys with round faces should consider a short fade with at least three inches on top. Add some strong product to hold it in place.

9. Flat Ironed Front

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-9
malehairadvice/Reddit

In the early 2000s, the flat ironed front look was hugely popular. The good news it’s come roaring back like a boy band reunion these past couple of years. It’s a slightly more complex style, requiring a flat iron. Speak with a hairstylist or barber before using a flat iron the first time. The flat iron will flatten the front hair that lays against the forehead. Use light products to hold the hair in place.

10. Long Fringe

Pomade/Reddit

Long bangs are a men’s opportunity to show off various styles. Long fringe is more to manage, but it’ll be worth it. It’s ideal for highlighting the hair on top with a short taper fade haircut. Top it off with mousse or light gel for a chic and charming look.

11. Faux Hawk Caesar

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-11
StyleMann/YouTube

The faux hawk Caesar is one of the most effortless styles to manage. It adds volume and fullness to the hair on top. After a short blow dry, comb the fringe down using gel or paste to add texture. It’s a simple and sleek look that might be a bit outdated but is making a comeback.

12. Fringe With Undercut

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-12
malehairadvice/Reddit

For a daring and stylish haircut, go for a fringe with an undercut. The barber trims the side and back to one length all around without a blend or a taper fade. The style draws attention to the high contrast. It’ll highlight your best features combed over, swept to the side, brushed forward, or spiked up.

13. French Crop With Taper Fade

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-13
AskMen/Reddit

The French crop with a taper fade is one of the most popular looks. The French crop is a classic style that’s been around for years. Add a low, mid, or high taper fade to modernize the traditional style.

14. Cool Haircuts for Boys With Bangs

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-14
StyleMann/YouTube

Parents usually get their boys a simple buzz cut because it’s easier to manage. However, there isn’t a parent that doesn’t go crazy for their son with bangs. Young boys often pull off haircuts made popular by teens. Young boys can go with a messy fringe and faded sides or a flowing mushroom cut to highlight their bangs. Other stylish choices include a smooth shag or textured side-swept undercut.

15. Fade With Bangs

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-15
StyleMann/YouTube

Try a fade with bangs for a trendy, professional, versatile style. The style works in several different ways. With a low fade cut, the fringe can go long or short. It goes perfectly with a mid to higher taper. Take it to the next level with a high bald fade.

16. Comb Over With Bangs

FADED CULTURE/YouTube

Use a simple comb over with bangs to make men’s older hairstyles look fresh and modern. It can look sophisticated and stylish with a low fade and soft part when done right. On the other hand, try a high fade with shaved hard part line on one side for a relaxed and edgy look.

17. Textured Fringe

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-17
malehairadvice/Reddit

Once you pick your fringe hairstyle, elevate it with a textured fringe. It’ll shine with a naturally textured style with volume and fullness. Simply add clay or matte pomade before brushing the hair forward and styling the bangs. It works with all types, lengths, and styles.

18. Choppy Hair Bangs

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-18
malehairadvice/Reddit

Choppy hair bangs can go with a modern or retro look. Keep the sides short with full and choppy bangs for an edgy and contemporary appearance. Another great option is to go with an undercut for a classic style.

19. Messy Fringe

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-19
malehairadvice/Reddit

Men with curly, wavy, thick, or straight hair will love rocking the messy fringe. It goes best with a taper fade on the side and back, giving it volume with an effortless and alluring look.

20. Straight Hair Bangs

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-20
Next Luxury/YouTube

Few hairstyles compare with straight hair bangs. It’s a simple yet versatile look. To ensure a stylish look add a bit of product. Use an undercut or fade on the sides, leaving the top long and cutting the front at the hairline. The longer fringe can hang slightly over the forehead, while the shorter is sharper.

21. Wavy Fringe

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-21
curlyhair/Reddit

Guys with wavy hair had no idea how to style it for centuries. Luckily, the wavy fringe is here to save the day. Highlight the wavy hair on top with a taper fade or undercut on the sides. It’s a unique hairstyle that only works with wavy hair.

22. Curly Fringe

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-22
curlyhair/Reddit

Every guy will turn heads with a chic curly fringe. For contrast, draw attention to the perfect curls on top with a mid or high bald fade. With volume and texture on top, let the curls grow out to elevate the style. Use mousse to control the fizz and salt spray to enhance the curls.

23. Side Swept Bangs

trendsetting-mens-fringe-haircuts-image-23
malehairadvice/Reddit

Side-swept bangs are ideal for guys that want to hide their prominent foreheads to balance their head shape. Side-swept bangs require zero effort from guys with long hair. Let the fringe dangle over the forehead, or brush it forward and to one side. That allows for a loose and messy look or a clean-cut structured style. It also goes perfectly with an undercut or faded sides.

25 Bizarre Mormon Rules https://nextluxury.com/interesting/mormon-rules/ Tue, 30 May 2023 17:00:20 +0000 https://nextluxury.com/?p=300964 …]]> Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Mormon Church is one of the largest denominations of Christianity. Better known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or LDS for short, followers consider themselves a restoration of the original church founded by Jesus Christ.

In the 19th century, Joseph Smith founded LDS during the Second Great Awakening. Their religious texts include The Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. The religion draws heavily from the Old Testament, notably the Ten Commandments, and consists of many Mormon rules.

The followers believe in Godhead; consisting of God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. Smith claimed to have a vision of God and his son, Jesus, telling him to restore the original church leading to the creation of the LDS. Mormons have an interesting belief system with a strict set of rules they must follow. To outsiders, these rules might seem strange and slightly overbearing. Nevertheless, Mormons must adhere to the doctrine and Morman faith to experience eternal life.

Below are some of the religion’s weirdest rules that set them apart from other faiths.

Exploring 25 Fascinating and Unconventional Mormon Rules

1. Polygamy

In 1843, founder Joseph Smith claimed to have a vision from God telling him that each Mormon man should have multiple wives. Smith told those closest to him about his vision, but they had to keep it from the government and other church members. Publicly, Smith denied practicing polygamy and would excommunicate anyone that did.

After his death, Brigham Young became his successor and went public with plural marriages, resulting in a 60-year battle with the United States government. The church fought to retain its right to practice polygamy, contributing to the cause of the Utah War.

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, relations with the US government improved when the Mormon Church suspended the practice of polygamy. That resulted in several sects spinning off to form their own separate religion.

2. No Same Sex Marriage or Abortions

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-2
Rommel Canlas/Shutterstock

With the end of plural marriages, the church defines marriage as the union between a man and a woman. Mormons don’t recognize same-sex marriage. Since they also follow the Ten Commandments, they’re one of the most vigorous opponents of abortion.

3. Mormons Can Lie

Mormons abide by many strict rules based on The Bible, their teachings, and law enforcement. They also oppose many cultural shifts, such as same-sex marriage. One thing they’re okay with is lying.

Unlike other religions, Mormons learn it’s okay to lie for the greater good and protect the community. They often lie to defend their rights and freedom. It stems from Mormons fighting the government over their right to practice polygamy. Not every Mormon believes in lying though, with many considering it a sin.

4. Missionaries Can Only Play Half Court Basketball

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints maintains one of the most extensive missionary programs in the world. The LDS has several strict rules the missionaries must adhere to. While permitted to play basketball on half-courts, the church forbids Mormons from playing full-court games. Furthermore, they cannot play in leagues, and tournaments, or keep score.

5. Female Clothing Must Be Modest

The Mormon Church has a strict dress code for women to follow. The rules have evolved over time, stating women must wear modest attire. They must avoid wearing short skirts or clothing that shows off their figures.

In modern times, they can wear pants in certain situations, notably when doing missionary work. The church now permits dresses that come to the knees. The rules and women’s role in the church is constantly evolving.

6. No Swearing

Nowadays almost everyone swears and uses profanity like they’re on a HBO series. That said, people still frown upon swearing in public, especially Mormons. They have a strict no-swearing or profanity policy.

They won’t use a “bad word” in situations like stubbing their toe or walking into a wall. It’s one of the first things people notice about Mormons since most people swear like they’re a gangster in a Martin Scorsese movie.

7. Keep Three Months Worth of Food Stockpiled at All Times

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-7
M.Volkova/Shutterstock

The Mormon Church encourages followers to stockpile roughly three months of food and supplies. The practice dates back to the founding of the LDS and continues today. There are numerous reasons they accumulate food.

Some are preparing for the apocalypse or a natural disaster, while other followers are stockpiling in cases of personal tragedy or injury.

8. Missionaries Can’t Swim

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-8

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a set of strict rules and guidelines that missionaries must follow. The church prohibits missionaries from swimming for safety reasons. Those outside the missionaries can swim as much as they like, but not on Sundays. Mormons refrain from all leisure activities on Sundays.

9. Modest Hair and One Piercing

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-9
nakaridore/Shutterstock

Like women’s clothing, the LDS requires women to wear their hair in a modest style. They usually wear it in a basic ponytail avoiding any shine, products, or accessories that might draw attention to them. The Mormon Church prohibits them from wearing curls during the summer months. While they are allowed to have a piercing, they can only have one in each ear. Nose piercings and the like are not acceptable.

10. No Beards

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-10
mapo_japan/Shutterstock

The counterculture of the 1960s and 1970s influenced the Mormon youth. Men began growing out their beards and facial hair. The combination of the change in women’s fashion resulted in the church setting stricter and harsher clothing guidelines. The church requires men to shave their beards to avoid appearing dirty.

11. No Drinking Hot Beverages

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-11
iHumnoi/Shutterstock

The Mormon Church follows specific rules established by the Old Testament, such as the Ten Commandments. They also have some additional rules each Mormon must follow.

They have strict rules against drinking hot coffee or tea. They make a clear distinction that Mormons abstain from hot beverages. Consuming caffeine is fine for a cold drink such as iced coffee or Coke, but hot is seen as a big no-no.

12. No Eating Meat in Summer

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-12
itakdalee/Shutterstock

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has interesting views on eating meat. The Words of Wisdom prohibit tobacco, alcohol, and hot beverages. To be considered worthy, each Mormon must follow those rules.

Eating meat is also referenced, although it doesn’t have the same implication since there seems to be some confusion. According to the texts, Mormons must eat meat sparingly in the cold and winter months. Mormons can’t eat meat during the summer months at all, making them vegetarians for part of the year.

13. Missionaries Can Only Contact Family Twice a Year

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-13

The Mormon church regards missionary work as an essential part of the journey of worthiness. At one point, they cut off all communication with loved ones to focus on work since family’s considered a distraction.

They can only call family twice yearly, on Christmas and Mother’s Day. In 2019, the church amended the rule to encourage more communication with family, including but not limited to phone calls, texts, and emails.

14. Cannot Criticize Church Leaders

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-13

One of the most severe offenses an LDS member can commit is criticizing the church, leaders, and policies. They are more than free to criticize the Church. In fact, the church encourages these criticisms as long as they keep it to themselves. The church forbids members from writing anything negative.

They even created the Strengthening Church Members Committee to monitor all LDS members’ writing. If they find any information, they forward it to the bishop to determine an appropriate punishment.

15. Passing the Law of Chastity

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-15

Passing the law of chastity is one of the church’s most controversial rules. During the days of Joseph Smith, it was common for a man to have multiple wives. However, since the change in laws in the 70s, the Mormon Church took a more strict view on sexuality, especially with teens. It begins on a child’s 8th birthday after their first baptism.

Part of the process requires a bishop to question the child about following the law of chastity and if they’ve been sexually active. They repeat this at age 12 and throughout their teens until adulthood. Questioning children about sex stirred up controversy. Nowadays, many bishops avoid asking the question or modifying it.

16. No Tattoos

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-16

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has strict guidelines regarding fashion and trends. For example, the church has strict rules against members having tattoos. They oppose all body art and multiple piercings.

17. No Leisure On Sundays

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-17

Mormons dedicate their Sundays to the Church. While some religions dedicate Sunday morning to Church, Mormons extend it throughout the day. Even when they leave Church, the day is still about religion.

They don’t have any leisure or enjoyment time on Sunday. Thus, they don’t read, watch TV, go to the park, or listen to music. Anything that’s considered fun is a giant no-no. Sunday is about reflecting and deep thought.

18. No Dating Until 16

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-18
I Am Your Target Demographic/YouTube

Mormons cannot start dating until after they turn 16. Before that, Mormons of the opposite sex can only interact if it involves studying.

In most cases, they start dating around 18 after completing two years of missionary work. Once they turn 18, they start dating with the intent to get married, although the Church also prohibits premarital sex.

19. No Kissing

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-19

While premarital sex is banned, Mormon teens can kiss, but there are rules that also must be adhered to. They can kiss as long as it’s neither passionate nor too long. Those same rules apply to hugging and holding hands too. So really, physical touch isn’t a big part of the religion.

20. Divorce Is a Necessary Evil

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-20
LightField Studios/Shutterstock

Marriage is a sacred bond among Mormons and their religion. The Church is strictly against divorce except in extreme cases. They view it as a sign and frown upon divorce.

Mormons have two wedding ceremonies. One is a more basic ceremony with family and lots of food. They have a second ceremony, which is the sealing of their bond at the temple. The bond can never break, even in the afterlife.

21. Wear Undergarments At All Times

Remaining clean and pure are two essential elements of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mormons often wear undergarments beneath their clothing. Once they go through the temple, they must wear special garments. The silk or cotton undergarments are a reminder to stay pure, clean, honest, and virtuous. It’s important to remain faithful to the Ten Commandments.

22. Soaking

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-22

Soaking is a controversial subject among Mormons. Many claim the practice is an urban legend, while others are adamant it exists. Essentially, soaking is a loophole around the law of chastity. The church prohibits sex outside of heterosexual marriage. However, soaking is sex without the thrusting, allowing Mormons to get around the rule without breaking it officially.

23. No Oral Sex

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-23
NDAB Creativity/Shutterstock

With all the strict rules about dating and kissing, it shouldn’t be surprising that four-play is also frowned upon. Most notably, the Church forbids oral sex on a man or woman. It’s strictly against religion which is another downer for those who follow.

24. Have Lots of Babies

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-24
VICE/YouTube

The church forbids premarital or oral sex but encourages Mormons to procreate. Indeed, they don’t believe in birth control or abortion. That’s why Mormon families are often large, with an average of 9.8 children per family. Even if they can’t afford to have that many children, the Church encourages them to have as many as possible.

25. No Cigarettes, Alcohol, or Drugs

fascinating-and-unconventional-mormon-rules-image-25

It’s not uncommon for religions to forbid drinking alcohol, consuming drugs, and banning smoking tobacco and marijuana. Mormons also refuse these substances for being unhealthy and addictive. 116 Bathroom Curtain Ideas https://nextluxury.com/home-design/bathroom-curtain-ideas/ Mon, 29 May 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://nextluxury.com/?p=300463 …]]> It’s no secret that there are a lot of things going on in the bathroom that are better left unsaid. It’s one of the rare places in a house where people spend the most time naked or with their pants around their ankles. People spend most of their time staring off into space. That’s all the more reason to spruce up the bathroom with decor, potpourri, and curtains. Bathroom curtains are the piece that ties the bathroom together. It’s the starting point for decorating the bathroom and influencing the other aspects of this sacred space.

It turns out that bathroom curtains are more complex than people realize. For a basic bathroom, you need to focus on windows and shower curtains. The master bathroom varies in design and space. In some, you only need to focus on the window curtains. It might be a surprise, but bathroom curtains can be overwhelming. We compiled a list of the best bathroom curtain ideas, covering everything from long and small to elegant and unique.

116 Awesome Bathroom Curtain Ideas

1. Elegant

With the right shower curtains, decor, and window curtains, your bathroom can become the most elegant room in the house. All it takes is a detailed curtain rod, hooks, and high-end curtains with classy trim. Shower curtains usually match the window curtains, sometimes with added color. A dark brown or white color for the window curtains brings a high level of elegance. Matching the curtains with the wall is always a great idea. Shutters, Roman shades, or no curtains are another way to make the room elegant.

Master bedrooms often have larger bathrooms with various designs. A new style emerging is separating the shower from the tub. That eliminates the need for a shower curtain. If that’s the case, the window curtains become the center of the room. A dark color with a fringe at the bottom with some artwork on the walls elevates the elegance of the space

2. Guest

Guest bathrooms are often smaller restrooms that only get used when friends and family visit. To make the smaller rooms feel less cramped, try neutral colors to make the room feel more inviting. Neutral colors will open up the space as well.

Homeowners often spend a lot of time making the guest bathroom look perfect. Keeping the guest bathroom looking good is easier since it’s not always in use. On the other hand, it’s also easy to neglect the guest bathroom too.

Some go with a more basic colorful look for the curtains, featuring a floral print. Others go with an elegant look with a white curtain featuring a fringe or a unique design. In both cases, they should match the bathroom window and towels. It’s a guaranteed way to have every guest praising your bathroom.

3. Long

Long bathroom curtains are becoming all the rage nowadays. The great thing about long curtains is they work in a variety of ways. Master bathrooms often separate the bathtub from the stand-up shower with curtains. Ideally, long curtains work best with longer windows. Master bathrooms usually go for a more elegant look with dark brown, black, or white to brighten it up. Add a privacy curtain to feel relaxed and laid back.

A combined tub and shower could mean there’s less space. Thus, a bright color or pattern will help make the room feel bigger. If space isn’t an issue, a white shower curtain will make the room pop. Long curtains are easily the best option in this case.

4. Modern

Bathroom curtains with a modern look are perfect for the master bathroom, the main bathroom, or the guest bathroom. Modern focuses more on playful patterns that are inviting and warm. Long bathroom curtains with elegant patterns class up a bathroom. The chic look usually matches the wallpaper or color of the wall. Designer shower curtains can have a solid color like white or match the pattern. They also work great with a grand design against a white wall.

Another popular choice is the timeless classic of bright color with subtle polka dots. The bright colors and patterns open up the room. The modern look also allows you to have a little more fun. You can match different color schemes and patterns to give the bathroom a unique look. It also works great for the guest bathroom, allowing you to make the space different from the rest of the house.

5. Small

Small bathrooms feel more challenging than the other bathrooms in the house. The lack of space doesn’t mean it can’t be a fresh, warm, and welcoming place. Neutral colors for the shower curtain or a little pattern bring elegance to the room. It feels fresh and spacious, which is vital for a small bathroom. Curtains with a pattern spruce up the room with a cool design and color.

A small bathroom is a great place to experiment with different styles and colors. Once a staple of the kitchen, cafe curtains are finding their way into the bathroom. Small bathrooms usually have small windows, meaning cafe curtains are perfect. It’s an inviting style that adds texture and warm colors. Small bathrooms also serve as the guest bathroom, so it’s easier to manage year-round. It’s easy to bring charm and elegance to the smallest room in the house.

6. Unique

The bathroom is the best place in the house to let your creative side free. A unique shower curtain is great for most rooms in the house, notably the primary and guest bathroom. A unique, mind-blowing, and funny shower curtain will make the room feel inviting and exciting all at the same time. A simple curtain with a cool design will make the room charming and elegant.

Another elegant style is to go with a stunning view of a landscape, lake, or city with bright and engaging colors. Surreal 3D curtains featuring beaches or oceans will spruce up the room and open up the space. Unique seasonal curtains, such as Christmas or Halloween themes, impress guests and entertain kids. Of course, a wacky or silly DIY shower curtain is a great idea too. The bathroom is the number one place where people need a laugh, so introduce a funny shower curtain.

7. White

White is a popular color scheme to use in the bathroom for shower curtains and windows. White works in several ways. For instance, white shower curtains with matching shades bring elegance and charm to the room. Long, white widow curtains look stunning in the spacious master bathroom. Even in a small bathroom, white curtains turn the small space into an open and inviting place to let go of the day.

Plain white with a fringe brightens up the room with added color. White shower curtains with patterns can retain elegance while featuring a unique or funny design. A black and white shower curtain with cats is unique yet charming and chic all at the same time. It’s impossible to go wrong with white curtains.

8. Window

As noted, window curtains are just as important as shower curtains. The bathroom style and color have more to do with the curtains than anything else. While style is essential for the window, so is privacy. It’s the one place where privacy is the most important, but we want to maintain the style. A privacy shade is ideal if the bathroom isn’t isolated. Plus, they come in a wide range of styles and colors to enhance the room.

If the room is isolated, a sheer window curtain adds texture, light, and sex appeal. Velvet and Roman shades add another layer to the windows and bathroom. A fun floral pattern or subtle design works great in a small bathroom with limited space. Long window curtains with a pattern have a unique way of blending in with the background and shower curtain.

18 AI Future Predictions https://nextluxury.com/interesting/ai-future-predictions/ Mon, 29 May 2023 17:00:07 +0000 https://nextluxury.com/?p=301232 …]]> Science fiction movies like 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Terminator, and The Matrix were all correct. In the distant future, humans will rely on artificial intelligence (AI). Many of these movies also predict AI will turn on humans, but that’s a different conversation.

Since the 1800s, there have been discussions about the possible creation of AI. It’s now become a reality and is taking shape, becoming a big part of our everyday life. This article explores AI future predictions and the exciting possibilities and potential impacts it will have on our way of life.

People use numerous AI applications daily, including understanding human speech, recommendation systems, and web searches. These include popular devices such as Alexa, Netflix, and Google Search. Artificial Intelligence has already come so far. Shockingly, it still has a long way to go. Experts predict that Artificial intelligence will impact humans on various levels. They anticipate it’ll change banking, education, transportation, and entertainment, as you will discover below.

18 AI Future Predictions That Will Change The Way We Live

1. Generative Artificial Intelligence

ai-future-predictions-image-1
The KonG/Shutterstock

Generative Artificial Intelligence is advancing quicker than anyone could imagine. Several systems like Stable Diffusion, MidJourney, and DALL-E 2 can create detailed texts, images, and media from a simple prompt. The best-known Generative AI are the highly capable chatbots ChatGPT and Bing Chat. Both systems can converse with users, answer highly complex questions, write essays, create code, and compose emails. The technology continues to advance at a rapid pace.

The Google Brain has been hard at work creating text-to-video AI. GPT-4 created OpenAI with multimodel capabilities, such as creating new business models from scratch. Researchers anticipate that Generative AI will impact several professions, including graphic design, writing, gaming, fashion, software development, and healthcare. It also has negative drawbacks, notably fake news, deep fakes, and the end of many people’s jobs.

2. Artificial Intelligence Will Solve the world’s Problems

ai-future-predictions-image-2
metamorworks/Shutterstock

Teams around the world are working on ways to improve and enhance artificial intelligence. The goal is to create a knowledgeable AI that’s so smart it can improve itself until it’s the perfect machine, known as Singularity.

Futurist Ray Kurzweil believes computers will have human-level intelligence by 2045. With an extensive database, this high-level AI will analyze large amounts of information to solve the world’s problems, such as climate change, hunger, overpopulation, and diseases. Or rise up against us and destroy humanity like in The Terminator. Hopefully, it’s the first one.

3. Artificial Intelligence Can Help Predict Future Events

ai-future-predictions-image-3
CC7/Shutterstock

With the help of artificial intelligence, humans can predict future events accurately. They might even be able to predict hours, days, weeks, months, years, and decades in advance. Scientists believe AI will even predict human behavior in committing crimes, falling in love, and divorcing.

Ray Kurzweil has used technology to make numerous predictions, most notably the popularity and reach of the Internet. At the same time, many of his predictions were wrong. AI predictions are already part of daily life. Facebook and Google use AI predictions to determine the ads and content users will likely click on.

4. Humans Won’t Have To Work Anymore

ai-future-predictions-image-4
Zapp2Photo/Shutterstock

In the past, technological advancements sometimes meant a loss of jobs for the working-class blue-collar worker. With artificial intelligence rapidly growing, it could mean the loss of twice as many jobs, including blue and white collar. AI will change the workforce by introducing new automation, AI-powered interfaces, remote interpretation tech, and AI-powered transcription. Companies replacing employees with robots is human’s greatest fear.

Scientists believe these fears are unfounded and unwarranted. While AI will likely replace humans in current jobs, it’ll also create new jobs for humans that we have yet to imagine. New job possibilities will emerge in managing, generating, and servicing artificial intelligent technology. AI will make work life easier, giving people more time to spend with family.

5. Upload Our Minds To the Cloud

ai-future-predictions-image-5
aorpixza/Shutterstock

The Cloud has already changed the way of life in many ways. Science fiction series, like Black Mirror, propose uploading a person’s mind to the Cloud. This might soon be more than a storyline.

Researchers believe humans can upload minds, memories, consciousness, and thoughts to the Cloud. The mind-bending breakthrough means that humans can live for an eternity. Life will continue in a virtual reality-type scenario. Of course, it would be a copy of our minds and not real people, but still, it’s one way to live forever.

6. Machines Will Become Our Best Friends

ai-future-predictions-image-6
Zapp2Photo/Shutterstock

Social media and phones make it possible to interact with friends without human contact. Many people prefer this mode of conversation. As artificial intelligence advances, they’ll be able to adapt and have intelligent conversations with humans.

There’s a chance that machines will become man’s best friend. There’s also a belief that super-intelligent devices will be able to care for the elderly and sick. Robots that help daily life are already on the market, including Roomba, Google Home, and Pepper, the robot companion.

7. Humans Will Become Cyborgs

ai-future-predictions-image-7
Kiselev Andrey Valerevich/Shutterstock

As technology and artificial intelligence advances, so will humans. Many scientists predict that the next step in human evolution and technology is combining the two to create cyborgs. With enhanced implants and prosthetics, the human body and mind will go places we never imagined.

3D printing, augmented reality, neuroscience, and robotics will create human cyborgs with enhanced hearing, vision, and intelligence. It will help extend human life as these cybernetic parts will help cure diseases and replace limbs and organs.

Experts predict that humans will go from touching the screen to living in virtual reality through being a cyborg. These exoskeletons will also be able to assist with helping injured or the elderly walk without human assistance.

8. Smart Assistants Will Evolve

ai-future-predictions-image-8
Daisy Daisy/Shutterstock

The next generation of interfaces will change the world in more ways than we can imagine. Smart assistants have become an essential part of life. They can do everything from playing our favorite song and telling us the time to giving directions and weather tips.

Devices like Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri use voice recognition and prompts. Soon, these AI assistants will quickly evolve into super-intelligent advisory systems that are empathic, smart, learn, and adapt.

9. Education

ai-future-predictions-image-9
VideoFlow/Shutterstock

Advancements in technology have already had a significant impact on the education system. During the Covid-19 lockdown, education moved from the classroom to online.

Experts expect artificial intelligence to take teaching and learning to the next level. AI will create personal education programs for each student and their needs. AI will focus on administrative work, grading papers, and creating lesson plans, allowing teachers to focus on the students and their educational needs.

10. Superhumans Living in Symbiosis With AI

ai-future-predictions-image-10
Stock-Asso/Shutterstock

While some scientists believe artificial intelligence will create a population of Iron Men, others see the world going in a different direction. Instead of becoming cyborgs, humans will have the ability to link up their brains to supercomputers. This means the human brain and AI will continue evolving and in theory combine to create an idyllic world.

Combining the human mind and a super-intelligent system will produce beings far smarter than humans and AI alone. Elon Musk is already hard at work, creating an implanted chip known as the neural lace, to upload or download thoughts to a computer to enhance a person’s intelligence.

11. Autonomous Vehicles

ai-future-predictions-image-11
metamorworks/Shutterstock

Classic sci-fi movies like Back to the Future Part II and Blade Runner promised flying cars that could operate themselves. The days of these futuristic vehicles are upon us. With machines and voice assistants evolving, it’s only a matter of time before they impact cars. Autonomous cars will learn and recognize patterns, requiring no driver.

Aside from being self-sufficient, cars will be more environmentally friendly. Manufacturers suggest cars will be driverless between 2020 and 2030. They also predict home automation and factory assembly lines will utilize artificial intelligence. Not only will autonomous vehicles take over, but autonomous agriculture equipment and robots will be available by the end of the decade.

12. Health Care

ai-future-predictions-image-12
Wright Studio/Shutterstock

Scientists anticipate that artificial intelligence will have a significant impact on health care. AI will help doctors and nurses develop the ideal treatment plan for patients. It’ll collect massive amounts of data providing insight into the patient and predicting how they’ll respond to specific treatments. With machines learning faster, they’ll sort through thousands of pieces of evidence and data, which usually take weeks.

Healthcare professionals already use AI for gene sequencing to identify and predict patterns. It’ll allow doctors to research and understand diseases and treatments faster. AI will also have to test the efficacy of drugs and their potential side effects.

13. AI Generative Music

ai-future-predictions-image-13
Zhuravlev Andrey/Shutterstock

Experts predict that generative artificial intelligence will move from the computer lab to gaining commercial use. The new advanced technology will profoundly impact the music industry in particular. AI generative music could easily create eye-catching logos, artwork, and social media posts. It could also produce online media content, background music, and even commercial jingles.

14. Banking and Finances

ai-future-predictions-image-14
PopTika/Shutterstock

Artificial intelligence will have a major impact on the financial industry. Experts expect it will help improve the customer experience. Advanced AI chatbots can communicate personally and effectively with the client improving digital banking.

AI will also enhance portfolio management and risk management strategies. The ultimate goal is to create an AI so advanced and powerful that it can manage entire franchises and chains across the globe.

15. Cybersecurity

ai-future-predictions-image-15
Gorodenkoff/Shutterstock

As technology advances, the cyberattacks become more complicated and destructive. Artificial intelligence will help advance cybersecurity to prepare for those advanced attacks. Cybersecurity experts will have the time to tackle new threats while keeping watch constantly. With complex AI algorithms and machines that learn, cybersecurity can go places only movies and TV shows have gone.

16. Security and Defense

ai-future-predictions-image-16

Police officers, firefighters, law enforcement, and soldiers worldwide risk their lives daily. It doesn’t matter what part of the world they live in; being a hero is a risky job. Artificial intelligence will have a positive influence on security and defense. Artificial intelligence can monitor the borders and airspace using drones instead of soldiers.

It will also improve surveillance and target recognition. It will change the way authorities investigate crimes and search for victims. Advancements in technology and DNA have allowed police officers to solve numerous cold cases. AI facial recognition will become one of the most critical tools for law enforcement in the future.

17. Entertainment

ai-future-predictions-image-17
KDdesignphoto/Shutterstock

Artificial intelligence has already had a dramatic impact on the entertainment industry. Streaming services like Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, and Netflix use algorithms to predict viewers’ preferences and tastes.

Eventually, AI will be able to anticipate preferences by predicting a person’s mood and even day. Entertainment experts expect virtual reality to take entertainment to new places with new ways to watch movies, and TV shows, and play games.

18. Greater Emphasis on AI Ethics

ai-future-predictions-image-18
3rdtimeluckystudio/Shutterstock

Artificial intelligence technology isn’t the only thing that’s going to evolve. How humans view AI and its ethics will also improve significantly. Experts note that AI can create incredible imagery and art. A user can easily copy someone else’s hard work, raising serious questions about artistic integrity. Businesses will have to enhance cybersecurity and protect against data leaks.

Another critical aspect businesses using AI must address is transparency with customers and employees. However, experts note that AI has a significant bias. Artificial intelligence tends to adopt the bias of the human designers inputting the information. Companies are working on tackling these issues as artificial intelligence becomes a reality.

10 Mansions No One Wants To Buy https://nextluxury.com/home-design/mansions-no-one-wants-to-buy/ Fri, 26 May 2023 19:00:51 +0000 https://nextluxury.com/?p=300459 …]]> When it comes to mansions no one wants to buy, there’s no such thing as “home sweet home.” Everyone needs a place to call home, but nobody wants to go broke doing it. Around the globe, dozens of stunning mansions sit empty because nobody wants them.

In some cases, their architecture marvels far from civilization. Others are world-famous for being on the market for years due to strange hauntings. Even after upgrade and restoration, these mansions still have a for sale sign sitting in their front yard. There are various reasons these phenomenal pieces of real estate appear cursed to be alone forever as you will discover below.

10 Mansions No One Wants To Buy

1. Granot Loma

Granot Loma

Michigan/Reddit

Known as the most expensive home in Michigan, Grant Loma is a breathtaking mansion on over 5,000 acres along Lake Superior. General Motors executive Louis Graveraet Kaufman completed the construction of the residence in the early 1920s. After Kaufman and his wife passed away in the early 1940s, their daughter remained in the home but left in the 1950s. It stayed abandoned until the Kaufman family sold it in the late 1980s.

It sits on 26,000 square feet with a private marina in the back. The house boasts a giant hot tub, 23 bedrooms, and four additional buildings. It went on the market at an asking price of $40 million. The price was too steep for most people, and it remains unsold, even after a 50% reduction. Despite being furnished, the isolated location makes it unappealing, as does the $20 million price tag.

2. Schweppe Mansion

Schweppe Mansion

Urbex With Matthew 3/YouTube

While some mansions are too expensive and others too isolated, the Schweppe Mansion is too haunted. The eerie Gothic-style mansion sits hidden in the woods along Lake Michigan in Lake Forest, Illinois. The fantastic home sits on 21,000 square feet, boasting a 400-foot-long beach.

In 1917, Marshall Fields gifted his daughter Laura Shedd the stunning residence. After her death, Shedd left her children with a hefty inheritance, leaving her husband with very little. A few years later, he committed suicide.

Since then there have been several reported murders in the home, leaving behind tortured souls to haunt the house. For roughly 50 years, the scary mansion’s reputation grew as it remained empty except for the occasional ghost sighting.

In the 1980s, a family purchased the home, undertaking a painstaking restoration process. They put the house on the market for $18 million. They struggled to find a buyer, reducing the price over ten years to its current price of $8.5 million. The vacant home remains unsold.

3. The Priestley House

The Priestly House

BE AMAZED/YouTube

After Lewis died in 2001, the house sat on the plot for over 20 years while the town decided what to do with it. An attempt to deem the land a historic site failed. In 2017, the local government’s solution was to put the house on the market for the low price of $10. It seemed like a great deal, except the owner had to pay to move and relocate the home on their dime. Due to a lack of buyers, the town demolished the house to make room for a new development.

In 1990, Halston sold the mansion before his death. The new owners struggled to sell the penthouse and after a lengthy restoration, it went back on the market for $38 million in 2011. Despite reducing the price to $24 million, it remained unsold. In 2018, fashion designer Tom Ford purchased the residence for $18 million. It’s unclear if he moved into the penthouse or simply added it to his vast collection.

In the 1950s, the Hayes family sold the property but it remained empty. As the years passed, the Maltese Cross-shaped mansion was neglected. It stayed that way until the city of San Jose purchased the manor in 1985.

Consisting of marble, stained glass windows, and exotic wood, the Mediterranean estate sits on 41,000 square feet and was one of the lucky mansions to be saved, with the historic site is now a hotel and resort.
